New He-Man Toys!

I have been sooooooo backed up on getting my recent toy purchases posted online.  I'm sorry guys!  I have been focusing more on my Real Ghostbusters collection more than anything but ran across the 2 guys above and had to add them to my ever growing He-Man and The Masters of the Universe collection.  The first guy on your left is Buzz Off.  He is a bee like character and I am not even sure if he is good or bad?  The second is Rattlor.  I am assuming he is a baddy and is actually pretty cool because his neck pops up like a snake which practically make his twice as tall. In other news I will try and get some of my Real Ghostbusters purchases up here also and with Christmas coming I am sure my collections will grow even more!

New Posters!!

Here we are with the release of a couple of brand spankin new posters!  It looks like 2012 will be the year once again of the super hero.  Up first is our first one sheet for The Dark Knight Rises.  I think Bane will be a bad ass and a fitting villain to end the series for The Dark Knight.  I can't wait to see the new trailer!  Up next is the poster for the re-boot of Spiderman.  The trailer looks ok but i'm really not sold either.  We will have to wait and see.

Epic Rap Battles Season 2!

Here we are again with Season 2 of the Epic Rap Battles of History.  This was a pretty good video although I thought I could do without Hitler and Darth Vader again.  Production value though is spectacular.  I really want to make my own carbonite prison!

Battleship Trailer and Poster!

So what did you think?  I can't help but think that it looks pretty cool.  It has my wife's favorite actor in Alexander Skarsgard and I also saw Rihanna in many of the scenes.  How can you not love Liam Neeson in anything really!  I don't see many references to the original game and it seemed like the music was very similar to Transformers.  Battleship opens in May!

Michael J. Fox does Johnny B. Good!

video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsvideo player
Holy crap! This is by far one of the coolest videos in the world! Apparently Michael J. Fox had a charity event this weekend where he decided he would take to the guitar and play "Johnny B. Good" from the Back to the Future series. Cool, very cool!

COD: Modern Warfare 3 Spoof Commercial!

Been playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 all weekend long!  I gotta say it has to be one of the greatest if not the best game I have ever played on the Xbox 360.  I don't buy many games but this one is totally worth it!  I don't know how you couldn't be psyched out from just watching the commercial above.  By the way, if you didn't know, the actors are Jonah Hill and Sam Worthington with a cameo from Dwight Howard at the end.

Snow White and the Huntsman Trailer!

This actually looks pretty good and would be even better without Bella!  Seriously, do they not have better actresses than her in Hollywood?

Immortals Review!

I had the opportunity this last Friday evening to watch Immortals and if I had to describe it in one word that would be AWESOME!  You don't have to read through my review to know up front that I highly recommend this film to people that like the genre and your random movie goer in general. Go see this film and see it in 3D!

With that said, let's get to the technical side of stuff.  This film was directed by Tarsem Singh.  He also directed another famous film called The Cell.  I recommend that film also and after finding out he made that film it made Immortals make even more sense in of the sheer beauty in both films.  I will get into that more later.  It's stars a relative unknown in Henry Cavill as our lead Theseus.  You have probably heard of him mostly as being cast as the new Superman. After seeing this film I am convinced he is going to be a great Superman.  It also stars the great Mickey Rourke as our bad guy King Hyperion.  Stephen Dorff, John Hurt and Luke Evans co-star.

I am fairly un-educated in Greek Mythology so bare with me.  My wife on the other hand knows a lot about it and loved this film.  It follows a peasant Theseus in his rise of a nobody to a somebody to battle the great and evil King Hyperion.  We have seen this story before so it's not something completely new and original but keeps it fast paced enough we are hardly ever bored.  King Hyperion is a merciless madman that is in search for a magical bow that can shoot arrows into a cryptic cell and unleash the titans.  The titans are evil beings that lost a battle against Zues and the gods and were banished into Mt. Tartarus for eternity.  With the bow King Hyperion can unleash the titans and rule the planet.  It is up to Theseus to save the world!

I loved this film!  It looked amazing.  At first glance it looked to me like a knock off of 300 but as I read more about it and watched more trailers I quickly realized that it was nothing like that movie.  I think it is was stupid to even say "From the producer of 300" on the trailers and poster.  This film stands quite well on it's own.  The computer effects were amazing.  It is a beautiful and real looking film.  The art work really blew me away.

The acting was great.  Rourke scares the crap out of you with his sadistic and murderer attitude.  He looked to me like he could of walked out of a Madmax film especially with those creepy masks!  I was especially intrigued with Luke Evans as the bad ass Zues who has been secretly mentoring Theseus for many years to be a great fighter and warrior.  One of the best scenes of the film is when Zues and a group of Gods arrive to the fight the titans.  Amazing!  I really can't say more even though I want to because it will spoil it.

Watch the trailer.  The trailer alone should sell you on this film.  You won't be disappointed!

A Very Harold and Kumar Christmas Review!

Here we go with my first Christmas movie review of the season and the highly anticipated third film in the Harold and Kumar series.  Like many of the fans of this series, I never saw the first in the theater.  If I recall I think it looked funny and ended up renting it on dvd when it came out and have been sold since that day.  The second film upped the level of craziness and I was stoked when I heard that their would be a third film.  I must say that I was a little concerned when I learned that it would be a Christmas film. Harold, Kumar, weed smoking and Santa Claus?  Can the third film take Harold and Kumar to the next level or are we finally going to be burned out?  I will try and keep the next couple of paragraphs as spoiler free as possible but be for-warned.

HK3 was written by John Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg and directed by Todd Strauss-Schulson.  The previous 2 writers wrote the other HK movies which is a good thing!  It stars John Cho and Kal Penn along with Paula Garces as Harold's wife Maria and Danneel Harris as Vanessa, Kumar's girlfriend.  This episode introduces us to Thomas Lennon as Harold's new best friend and Amir Blumenfeld as Adrian, Kumar's new best friend.  We also are teased with one shot cameos from many old faces such as Bobby Lee, Neil Patrick Harris, David Krumholtz and Eddie Kaye Thomas.  Danny Trejo is introduced as the hard ass Korean hating father in law of Harold.

So here we go.  It's been several years since we have last seen H&K and times have changed. Harold is a mature and responsible adult married to his dream girl Maria.  He has an assistant, Bobby Lee, from the first H&K and is living the dream.  Kumar has done nothing but smoke weed and put on weight.  They haven't spoken in 2 years and have no plans of speaking anytime soon. By circumstances uncontrolled by our duo they are forced to search for a Christmas tree in the middle of the night on Christmas Eve before Maria and her family return from midnight mass.

Does this film follow the general formula as the others?  Yes, more or less.  The reality of this film is that people change and they do grow up eventually and make other friends in life.  What is important is to never forget the ones that mean the most to you.  Oh, and smoke weed while your at it.  That is pretty much the bottom line of this film.  It's no Christmas Vacation but it serves the purpose well enough and I think that as the Christmas season rolls along this film will garner more money.

With that aside.  Here are some of my complaints.  I wanted more.  I want more dammit!  I want more NPH.  I want more of the crazy neighbors down the hall Rosenberg and Goldstein.  Where is "Weedy", the giant bag of weed from the first two films?  Thomas Lennon was funny as Harold's friend and father to the crazy little girl who always keeps getting douched with illegal drugs.  Amir Blumenfeld did nothing but annoy the hell out of me through the whole thing.  I was hoping he was going to be killed by the end of the film.  I felt like a lot of the funny scenes I had already seen from the numerous trailers that were released.  I hate it when movie studios do that!  On a side note, Elias Koteas, plays a Russian mob boss and kind of the baddy in the film, kinda.  I felt like this part was written with the hope that Christopher Meloni would return but he was absent.

"Absent" is a good word for this movie.  Did Harold and Kumar pull it off?  Was it a funny movie? YES!  They did!  It was a funny movie and the 3D was surprisingly pretty cool and worked for the film.  My biggest complaint is that I felt like their could have been more.  It seemed rushed like the only actors that really had the time to make this film was the original duo.  Everyone else is just kinda thrown in and that is it. If your looking for a dirty, nasty Christmas movie then this is for you. Go see it!  Can it wait until dvd and blu-ray?  Well, the question there is do you want to watch a holiday movie in the spring?  I doubt it.  If you have the inkling to see it then go see it before Christmas and enjoy it!

New Lunch Boxes!!!!!

It has been forever since I have purchased any lunch boxes! It's not that I haven't been anywhere that has sold any but a lot of the time it is either something I am not interested in or they are way too expensive! The past 2 weekends I have had the opportunity to visit the Portland Expo Center for 2 different events. The first was the Portland Antique Show. From what I understand it is one of the biggest antique shows in the USA. Then this weekend I visited the Portland Indoor Garage Sale event. People were selling everything from tools to clothes to electronics. Both shows were very cool and I highly recommend them. For more information you can visit the Expo Center website here.

As most of you know by now I am a huge Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fan. I had the chance to purchase a plastic blue lunch box complete with a thermos. It is made by the Thermos brand from 1989. As you can see it is from the cartoon series although I did see another one that was from the 3rd live action film also. It is in used condition but fair overall. I am not a huge fan of plastic lunch boxes but sometimes certain themes are only in plastic.

Next is a He-Man: Masters of the Universe plastic lunch box. It is blue also and comes complete with a thermos. It is made by the Aladdin company and dated 1983. I also own a couple of the metal ones from 1984 which you can see here. I believe the thermos was very similar or identical between both lunch boxes but I am not certain. Still very cool!

Lastly is my ET thermos! I had originally purchased a really nice ET lunchbox but it was missing the thermos. I had looked online and different stores but couldn't see paying $20-$40 for a single thermos. I was in luck this weekend! I found a very clean thermos for $2.00 at the indoor garage sale! Woohoo! The lunchbox below is not mine but one I found online. The thermos is the one I purchased yesterday.

There is the Shelby Collectible Toy and Rose City Collector shows happening in 2 weeks so we will see if I can pick up anymore sweet items in the near future!

Shawn VS Bret WWE Documentary

Just finished watching this documentary about the famed rivalry between Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart. Unscripted and raw emotion from both of these guys. I recommend it for anyone that is a fan of wrestling or is interested in the facts about these two great hall of fame wrestlers.

21 Jump Street Red Band Trailer!

As the title states above.  This is the REDBAND trailer for 21 Jump Street.  This has language that may not be suitable for all audiences or playable at work.  You can watch the regular clean trailer here.  With that said, I have never really seen the old 21 Jump Street tv show but this movie looks pretty funny.  What the hell happened to Jonah Hill?!?!  Kinda creepy almost with all of that weight loss.  Channing Tatum needs to be in a good movie and rumor is that Johnny Depp is in this also. I am guessing just a cameo.

He-Man Cartoon Fail

I thought this video was pretty funny especially being such a big Masters of the Universe fan.  This comes from Break.com and is part of many different "Cartoon Fails" featuring such classic cartoons as TMNT, Transformers, Care Bears and My Little Pony.  Please be advised that these can be very graphic so click at your own risk!

Captain America: The First Avenger Review!

In the year 1941, the first issue of the Captain America Comics was published by Timely Comics; the company that would one day be known to the world as Marvel. This was to be our first glimpse at the star-spangled patriot in stripes and spandex. Now fast forward 70 years in the future to 2011, and Captain America: the first Avenger, directed by Joe Johnston (known for such action/adventure classics as Jurassic Park III and The Young Indiana Jones chronicles) has hit theaters around the globe. The final installment of Marvel’s The Avenger’s movie prerequisites, introduces the very first avenger at the end, perhaps to honor the age-old tradition of saving the best for last.  Johnston presents us with surprisingly wholesome and captivating story of honor, patriotism, humility, and duty.

The story unfolds at a starting point some 70 years in the past (notice a trend?) during the 1940’s. Adolph Hitler is at large, World War II is in the air, and a sudden tumultuous flood of patriotism has inspired every able-bodied young man to quit his place in society and join the military front, with ideas of “shooting some Nazis.” Steve Rogers (Chris Evans, recognizable from his role as Human torch in Fantastic Four) wants only to extend his body as well as an offering to appease the tides of war. Unfortunately, he just wasn’t cut out for the job.

A careful combination of sheer luck and penultimate fate leads Steve to meeting with the enigmatic Dr.Abraham Erskine (Stanley Tucci), and a very special offer that not only guarantees him an incredible set of situational circumstances and a permanent place at the forefront of military efforts, but an opportunity to change his life forever. By accepting this offer, and the enormous responsibilities ahead, Private Steve Rogers takes on both the heroic persona of Captain America and the attentions of an unknown enemy with unlimited power.

While the general storyline was fairly straightforward, the details were what kept it interesting and personal. Comic relief in the form of Steve’s pitiful “before” transformation body kept our protagonist humble. This was twice as funny considering that the shrimpy runt body was actually CGI and that Chris Evans is in all actuality insanely muscular and bulky. Moreover hearing him accept put-downs and laugh off bullies was entertaining when paired with the idea of what he actually looked like when the scene was originally shot. Movie magic used with irony, I’d say.

Another intriguing aspect was the incorporation of Nazis and Hitler and whatnot. Comics geeks will be entertained by the creative association of Hitler with Hydra, the elite faction of fictionalized terrorists that exist solely to serve as antagonists and a common enemy in multiple Marvel comic story arcs. In this particular story their role was described as a sub-section of the Nazis, and each wore uniforms branded not only with the golden skeletal octopi symbolic of hydra operations but a sparingly displayed swastika. Their leader was none other than a man named Johann Schmidt, later christened “Red skull” (Hugo Weaving), who I personally felt was a rare example of a decent “villain” if you will.  Other note-worthy characters of the film include Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell), James Buchanan “Bucky” Barnes (Sebastian Stan), Colonel Chester Philips (Tommy Lee Jones), and of course Howard stark (Dominic Cooper).

I found this film to be worth the watch in theaters. If you missed it, it was officially released on Blu-Ray and DVD October 22nd- so no excuses. What made the noteworthy characters worth mention? How could anyone live knowing their good friend’s nickname was “Bucky”? What was Mr.Stark up to? And did Nick fury show up in the end with a little The Avengers movie plot spoiler? Watch and find out.

I didn't pay much attention to the news about this film but after watching the trailer....holy crap! Yes, another found footage movie. We've seen it twenty times but never about people with super powers! This looks pretty awesome and is slated to be released in February!

Brock Lesnar returns to the WWE!?!?!?!

Before you go crapping your pants this is for the new WWE 12 video game. Brock Lesnar has apparently signed a licensing deal with the WWE which basically means WWE can make toys, sell Lesnar merchandise and use him in their video games. Brock was recently asked by IGN.com about ever returning to the WWE and this is what he had to say:

"It would have to be under the right circumstances. I don’t know if Mr. McMahon and I could come to the right circumstances. If it was good for me and good for him I think that we could do something. At the end of the day, my life, my character and my profession – I take them very seriously. At the end of the day, if it doesn’t help me or my family out, and it doesn’t make sense for me to do, then I don’t do it. Everything would have to fall in the right place, but would I consider it? Absolutely."

The Avengers Trailer!!!

What can I say? Looks pretty damn good! The only thing that makes me cringe is Mark Ruffalo. He's not Bruce Banner aka The Hulk. I just can't see it and what a travesty that we didn't get Ed Norton. Other than that, 2012 can't come soon enough!

The Expendables 2 photo!

This bad ass photo was released today on the set of The Expendables 2. It is currently filming in Bulgaria with expanded roles for Shwarzenegger and Willis. This one is on the top of my list of films to see next year! Arnold actually looks pretty good in this pic!

John Cena on the set of Fred 2!

I came across this video of WWE Superstar John Cena trying to talk like Fred Figglehorn. Fred is an internet star with millions of followers on Youtube. You can check out his Youtube channel here.  He is basically a teen nerd who slightly fast forwards his video to give him a high and screechy voice. Wait, is screechy even a word? He is very annoying but is surprisingly funny to watch. In Fred The Movie, John Cena plays Fred's father.  This video was taken on the set of Fred 2 which will be airing on Nickelodeon later this month!

John Dies At The End Trailer

I came across the trailer this evening and thought I would share it with you. It's called "John Dies At The End" and is from famed director Don Coscarelli of Phantasm and Bubba Ho Tep fame. It's most famous star is Paul Giamatti. I'm not really sure what to think of this film but it looks pretty interesting. I will check it out when it's released!

Great CM Punk Interview!

Recently CM Punk was in Australia for the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards and did this interview. It is a cool insight into who he is, the wrestling business and where he is headed with his career. It is lengthy but very worth the time.

Invaders From Mars: Classic Campy and Fun!

I re-watched this film last night with my wife and two teenage daughters. I had seen this film before and it kinda freaked me out when I was a kid. It's kind of a cross between Invasion of the Body Snatchers in my opinion where we have martian alien invaders taking over the local town folk. It was directed by Tobe Hooper of Poltergeist and Texas Chainsaw Massacre fame. It's overall a cheesy and kinda campy film but didn't scare the crap out of my daughters and wasn't filled with gore, sexuality and graphic violence. It's on demand on Comcast under the Showtime Channel section.

FrightTown: Portland Oregon

This is an indoor haunted attraction in Portland Oregon.  It is actually 3 indoor haunted houses and from what I hear it is quite cool!  I plan to check it out this month sometime and will let you know more about it when I do!

New Toy Purchase: John Cena TRU Exclusive!

I had the chance to add yet another John Cena figurine to my collection of wrestling memorabilia.  This is an exclusive "TRU" or Toys R Us toy that is sold only at their store.  It is very cool although he does not have his newest shirt but the red wrist and arm brands. He also comes with an exclusive Wrestlemania sign.  In other wrestling news I was at my local Hot Topic and sure enough they had one of the newest WWE Cm Punk t-shirts.  It was a great find and nice to be able to purchase this locally and not just online at the WWE Shop. You can check out an image of the shirt by clicking here!

Epic Rap Battles Of History!!

Ok.  So you think you have seen it all spending countless hours online watching thousands of videos until you come across something pretty damn cool.  I am talking about Epic Rap Battles Of History!!  The premise is simple.  These videos are rap battles between famous people through out different periods of time.  The first video I came across was Mr. T versus Mr. Rogers.  These videos come from Youtube use Nicepeter.  The videos are hilarious and I suggest watching the Sarah Palin versus Lady Gaga or Darth Vader versus Adolph Hitler among others.

New TMNT Toy Purchase! Invisible Mike!!

It's turtle time once again folks!  I have been wanting my newest figurine for quite a while but haven't been able to find it locally or at least a good auction on Ebay until now!  I purchased a few months ago the Universal Studios TMNT Monster line.  This was a small line of turtles that were made to resemble the classic Universal Studios monsters from back in the day.  They were a short lived series and even came with discount coupons to the Universal Studios Theme Park.  You can check out a picture of that line below courtesy of the TMNT Figure Archive.

As you can see we have Dracula, Frankenstein, The Wolfman and The Mummy.  Later on a second Universal Studios monster set was released and today my first figurine arrived in the mail. It is Michaelangelo as The Invisible Man.  I find this character very cool and unique because he is partly see through which makes total sense but is the only one of it's kind that I have seen.  I plan to purchase the others in the series also but wanted to start with this guy first.

Site News! 9.23.11

Hey everyone out there!  It's been a busy week and frankly not a ton of concrete great news is really rumbling down the old internet pipes.  I started watching Tree Of Life and almost fell asleep it was that slow of a film.  I know and have read everything the critics are saying about this film and plan to try and re-watch it again and hopefully enjoy it.  I also had the chance to watch Horrible Bosses.  It was pretty funny overall and falls in the lines of current films like Hall Pass.  I did like this film better than Hall Pass but ultimately not worth my time writing some long and drawn out review over it.  If you like Jennifer Aniston then you will love Horrible Bosses!  Just saying ok.  Just saying. Thor 2 news was floating around this week.  Read it here.  Like I said.  Kind of boring and not much out there.  I guess this time of the year is slow for this news anyways.

Ghostbusters Returns to Theaters Next Month!

Big news today in the world of Ghostbusters. It looks as if the powers to be over at Sony decided that they will re-release the original Ghostbusters film limited in theaters next month. Other than this video their is no other concrete information. Rumor is that it will be showing on Halloween and that it will be a newly remastered version of the film. I was totally stoked to go see this but with 4 kids that won't be happening and I am kinda sentimental to the old print version and not some HD projected copy if that is the case. Either way if your wanting to see it on the big screen than this is your chance! More information to come as it is released.

Trick R Treat Commercial!

This is a pretty cool commercial for the Fearnet channel.  The video revolves around the character "Sam" from the Halloween movie Trick R Treat that was released last year.  As you can see, Sam is a little psycho murderer.  How cute!  lol  Or how scary!!  Remember kids, bus stops are a scary place!  You can see the trailer for Trick R Treat here.

Very Cool Back to the Future Commercial!

Ok, so this is a little different but still very cool I think. It looks like Doc Brown has shown up in Argentina. This is a commercial for an Argentinian electronics store Garbarino. It looks like an equivalent of Best Buy and is an overall well done commercial and homage to the original movies.

Ninja Turtle Ghostbusters with Critters?!?!

I came across this photo that originally showed up on Ghostbustersfans. It is a cross between 2 of my favorite things in the world, Ghostbusters and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! The Critters are kinda cool too!  It was made by a guy named Tristan Jones over at Deviant Art. You can check out more of his work by clicking the link here!

Back To The Future Nike Commercial!

UPDATE #1! A longer version of the Back to the Future Nike Mag commercial is online.
UPDATE #2! British rapper Tinie Tempah won the first auction with a whopping $37,500 bid!!

This video is very cool! Who else to star in a Back to the Future Nike commercial other than Bill Hader, Kevin Durant and good old Doc Brown himself! The shoes are on a very limited run. 1500 pairs to be exact and some of the shoes are being auctioned on Ebay with all proceeds going to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. The current shoes on Ebay are only ranging from $3,000-$7,000 a pair.  We could totally afford a pair right? Not.

Nike Releasing The Back To The Future Sneaker?

Today their were many cryptic messages online leading to a Nike event tomorrow evening and this video below. Executive producer of the Back to the Future Trilogy Frank Marshall tweeted the following, "Something big is coming soon. Can't say anything yet. No one should know too much about their own destiny and going to need a lot of hover boards." WTF?!?! Tell me this is true!

Teaser Trailer Stills For Untitled Horror Film!

Hey everyone!  It has been a super slow week for movie news but I have a very big personal announcement to make.  I am currently in pre-production of an untitled horror film that I will premiere on Saturday, October 29th 2011!  To get people excited to act in my new film, I thought it would be a good idea to shoot a quick clip and send it to them to watch and get jacked up on.  I am including some stills from the video and will be showing it exclusively on Mechamania once it has been released for my would be actors and actresses!

Death Valley! New Series from MTV?!???

So tonight I was forced to sit through the crap storm known as the MTV Video Music Awards.  Granted, it is no where near as bad as the MTV Movie Awards but still isn't my cup of tea because I think a lot of the music today is crap.  I NEVER watch MTV and think most if not all of their programming is totally worthless and an absolute waste of time but out of the blue this little nugget drops on the tv screen....

Alright, so for like the first time in over 10 years I see a commercial for something on MTV that actually looks like it could be kinda good.  At first I totally recognized Bryan Callen who is pretty famous from being in The Hangover films among other comedies and Tania Raymonde of Lost fame.  I get vibes of Zombieland from this series.  It looks kinda stupid but then again the effects look pretty good which could keep me interested.  The first half hour episode premieres Monday night at 10:30.  I have my DVR set and can't wait!  Let's just hope The Walking Dead Season 2 get's better.  We need a good zombie series.

New TMNT Toys 8.28.11!

This past week I had the opportunity to cash in on some more new and very cool vintage Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles off of Craigslist!  I am now the proud collector of over 100 action figures and many different vehicles and play sets.  The thing about the ninja turtle line of toys is that their are so many different and unique characters that were made.  I would guess their are around five to ten times more toys than what I have in my early collection.  I am also a bit picky.  I am not interested in anything newer than the late 1990's.  I grew up as a kid with the cartoon show and collected many of the turtles growing up so I have a special connection there. The newer line of toys are too anime looking for me and don't hold a torch to the old line of toys.  Being around 20 years old the toys are especially hard to find with their accessories or complete at all.

These are only a few from the vast collection I acquired.  Overall it was a great find.  Out of the 60 figurines I was able to add about 20, will sell around 20 and the rest were broken.  I was fine with taking the broken ones because the broken pieces were still with the collection and can be easily super glued back together and in working order.  It also came with around 200-300 accessories.  Some or most went to the toys that I have or perhaps extras from other long lost and forgotten pieces.  Still great to have and can add to other action figures in the future.

The number one item that attracted me to this sale was the photo to your left.  It is called the Technodrome and is a very hard piece to find without shelling out a lot of money.  It is a complete piece and goes great with my ever growing collection.  Thanks to Ryan for the sale.  It was his personal collection that he had from when he was a child.  Feel free to comment and let me know what you think!

Site Update 8.28.11

Hey everyone! It has frankly been a super busy week at my "real" job and their hasn't been much news to share with you all anyways so ultimately it has been a slow week. I was able to purchase a TMNT collection this week and will be sharing more of that with you soon. Until then, keep checking out the site for new updates and thank you as always for being a part of Mechamania! -Seth

Hey everyone!  This is a test more than anything.  I have had Google Ad-Sense on this site for quite sometime now with not much luck.  Google Ad-Sense is basically me saying to Google to put some ads on my website and if the reader clicks on the ad I get one tenth of a cent or something like that.  While cruising the site you may have noticed some ad's on the right hand side of the site towards the bottom.  I kept them down there purposely to not annoy anyone and they are also easily blocked by pop up ad blocker programs.  They seem to be semi relevant ads and who knows, perhaps there is something that you might be interested in?  For my test I am asking that you click on one of those ads and I can see if it actually works.  It would be interesting to see how many unique visitors click on the ad and see what happens?  My goal would be to get a new computer or some new web design software to help the site become even greater!!  Thanks for your support!

Fright Night 2011 Review!

Fright Night is a remake of the original 1985 film starring William Ragsdale, Chris Sarandon and the great Roddy Mcdowall. The 2011 version stars Anton Yelchin as Charlie, Colin Farrell as Jerry the vampire neighbor and David Tennant as Peter Vincent the vampire hunter. If you want to know up front what I thought about this movie then it is totally a go. I had a great time watching it and only minor gripes overall which I will discuss later in the review. If your looking for an alternative to Twilight and something more along the lines of 30 Days of Night then this film is for you. If your interested in the original and I highly recommend you watch it, you can check out the original trailer here.

Like I stated before. This is a remake. It's pretty consistent to the original overall but tends to lean on it's own here and there. This time around the story takes place in Las Vegas. I was a little skeptical about it being in Vegas but it actually fit very well to the story. We meet Charlie, played by Anton, and his best friend Ed, played by Christopher Mintz-Plasse AKA Mclovin from Superbad. Charlie has been distant with Ed because he wants to impress his current girlfriend Amy played by Imogen Poots. Ed is a nerd and into vampires and science fiction unlike the rest of the kids. Various students at school begin to mysteriously not show up in class. Ed is convinced it's because of the apparent vampire that lives next to Charlie is killing the kids in his neighborhood. The supposed vampire is Jerry played by Colin Farrell.

It's pretty apparent and doesn't leave much to the imagination once Ed goes missing and Charlie finds out that Jerry really is a blood sucking lustful vampire.  Through the simple works of his own via breaking into Jerry's house that Charlie is defenseless against Jerry so he enlists the help of the great Peter Vincent.  Peter is a Criss Angel of sorts that has his own show at the Hard Rock Casino where he performs magic and fights off fake vampires.  The big question from here is does Peter help Charlie or does he think he is a punk kid looking for attention?  Can they defeat Jerry and save Vegas from the wrath of the vampires?

I really liked this movie.  It is hard to beat an original with any remake but this comes pretty damn close. Being a remake the story was more or less the same but the original story was good so it wasn't like this had to be much different.  Vegas played out good with Peter Vincent working at the Hard Rock tied in nicely.  The vampires looked good but not exactly original.  Jerry looked like he came from the clan in 30 Days of Night.  Imogen Poots did a great job as Charlie's girlfriend and not just the side character we didn't really care about.  Christopher Mintz-Plasse was fine as Ed but never really added that much to the character.  If you liked Mclovin then you will love him in this movie.  The biggest and most pleasant surprise was David Tennant as Peter Vincent.  I really never heard of him before but he was awesome and I hope they spawn a sequel with his character!

We watched this film in 3D.  It was ok.  Not the best but I have seen worse in 3D.  This is a dark film mostly being at night or inside dark houses so it seemed harder to watch the movie because of this.  I think it would almost be better to see it in 2D.  I was expecting to see more of Evil Ed and Peter Vincent.  Ed was really only in it at the start and then back at the end of the film.  Peter Vincent is introduced about half way through the film and then is only in a few key scenes at the end also.  I would have loved to see him through out the whole film.  These are only minor things and really don't drag down the film as a whole.

This was a great film and an alternative for the vampire fan.  I am disappointed to hear that it came in something like fifth place at the box office this weekend.  I really hope we can see an original sequel and especially David Tennant in more films! I totally recommend this film for anyone looking for a scare and a good time at the end of the summer!
