World War Z Poster and First Footage!

Here is your first sneak peak at Brad Pitt's new film "World War Z".  From what I understand this about a zombie epidemic happening all around the world.  I don't know much but my wife has read the book and is a big fan of Max Brooks, the author.  I have been reading on other sites and from my wife's first look at this footage that it looks like it really has nothing to do with the book.  Kind of a bummer if that is true.  The zombies almost kinda remind me of the creatures from I Am Legend.  I don't think that their is a release date for this film yet other than sometime in 2013. The full trailer will be released tomorrow sometime.

Quick Review: Total Recall 2012 Version

So I finally got the chance to check out the remake of the legit old school Arnold Shwarzenegger film, Total Recall. This film stars a couple of good actors in Colin Farrel and Kate Beckinsale.  It was directed by Beckinsale's hubby, Len Wiseman.  This movie is pretty much a complete remake of the original.  It swaps in some elements from the original such as the planet Mars.  The story involves 2 different colonies like the original but stays on Earth.  Yes, you get the 3 breasted woman.  Why though?  Wasn't she a mutant in the original?  Honestly, I fell asleep through this movie.  That's not to say that it wasn't good.  Does it live up to the original?  Do they ever?  No, this does not.  It's probably worth a rental or catch it later on HBO or something.  Check out the trailer below.

Quick Review: Spiderman 2012

I had the opportunity to recently see this film and just had to write a "quick review".  What I mean by that is that I am basically going to give you my two cents on the film and a recommendation for or against the thing.  In the past I have spent a lot of time covering many different aspects of films that perhaps readers just weren't interested in reading?

Ok, so here we go, The Amazing Spiderman.  If MTV or Nickelodeon had won the rights to the beloved Spiderman library and made a film about it in their own take then you would have this film.  This film is geared towards the younger generation and plays out like a beefed up after school special.  We have all grown up and personally loved Tobey Maguire in the previous films so why Sony felt like they had to go and change everything out is a mystery to me.

The best actor in this film to me is Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy.  She is easy on the eyes and a joy to watch in this film.  Andrew Garfield is a no named actor that really doesn't fill the tights to play the role of Peter Park/Spiderman.  I hate to sound mean but in my opinion he was a bad choice. Our evil baddy, The Lizard, is a CGI mess and makes me wonder where all the money went into making this film.  The story overall was ok.  It is once again another "re-imagining" of the story we saw years earlier in the original Spiderman.  We have been there and done that and frankly I don't think people are that interested in visiting this story once again so soon.

If you have nothing else to watch then check this out on PPV or on demand where ever you may be.  Trust me you will get tired of it quick and wonder why you wasted your money.  That is unless you have young teenage girls in your house then I am sure they will love it.

Ebay Store: Enter The Toy Box

So everyone knows that I am a huge toy and pop culture fan. I have decided to jump into seeing if I could sell some of toys online through Ebay.  Lately I have been purchasing large amounts of toys, especially TMNT toys.  It's getting harder and harder to find the items that I don't have and when I do I have to buy the whole lot so I thought I would start listing some of my doubles and odds and ends that I have laying around.  You can click on the photos above to visit my store.  My store is called "The Toy Box".  A fitting name indeed I think!

Hollywood Treasure

I just wanted to briefly talk about a very cool show on television.  I thought this show would be fitting for this site because of how big of a movie fan I am along with the toys and other pop culture items I delve in.  This show is called Hollywood Treasure and is on the Syfy Channel on Tuesday evenings.  The show follows Joe Maddalena and his crew as they scour the globe looking for rare movie items to in turn sell in their famous "Profiles in History" auctions.  They deal in everything from movie props to cameras and wardrobes.  It is a very interesting show and especially for those that are big movie buffs like myself or history fans.  Joe comes off as a real sincere guy and someone who is about wanting to get these items (some of which are found buried in garages among other places) to good homes to be taken care of and enjoyed for many years to come.

Project X Review!

I had the chance last night to catch the flick, Project X.  Yes it has the same name as the 1980's Matthew Broderick film but is much, MUCH different.  I tend to get caught up in these reviews and write a lot more than what I originally intended.  I am going to not mention the actors yada yada yada because frankly you won't recognize them anyway.  Todd Philips, the director of such crazy films as Old School, Road Trip and The Hangover films produced this flick.  I don't think that really means much other than he stamped his seal of approval on it and his name being tagged to the film probably sold a few more tickets.

You have seen this film before.  If you have ever seen a teenage party film then you have seen this movie.  Where this film takes a turn is in how amped it get's.  Imagine the biggest, craziest alcohol, drug, sex infused party of all time and you will understand this movie.  Your main character is having a birthday and his 2 nerdy friends throw him a party at his own house.  What starts out as a backyard party with 30-50 friends turns into a block party with hundreds and mass carnage!

This film is shot with the first person perspective.  It was done well in the sense that it wasn't shaky cam all the time and you could see everything and not have a head ache afterwards.  It was funny. It was crude and dirty. If you like those kind of movies then you will relate and most likely enjoy this film.  It's a film about a big ass party and all the happenings that take place.  What can I say? There isn't much else to this film.  I am embedding the trailer below but be AWARE this is the REDBAND TRAILER.  Nudity, foul language and more is included.

Site Update 5.30.12

Well, what the hell! Here I am folks. You probably thought this site became one of those waste of space portals that just sits and rots the internet like the millions of pages before it and the millions to come. Your half right most likely. The fact of the matter is that life has kept me super busy as of late. This blog was meant to take up my time when I was laid off of work. It did that but now that I am working continually it becomes really hard to keep this site updated. I have also recently opened an Ebay store and have been dabbling in the sales of the things I love most. Vintage toys and collectibles. Am I saying that I am closing the site and won't keep it updated. No. I am saying what I always have said. Please bare with me. I haven't forgotten you and never will. You can keep up with me by becoming a fan of the site or friending me on Facebook. You can also check out my Ebay Store "The Toy Box" for all my vintage items.

If you know me then you know I absolutely love The Planet of the Apes series. This is from the Mondo Gallery in Austin Texas. I would totally love to have this but I am sure it sold for way more than what I could ever afford. You can check out many more of the paintings from the gallery over at Aint It Cool News.

Purchase the Hoverboard from BTTF Part 2!

If you have ever wanted to own an actual replica of the famous hoverboard from Back to the Future Part 2 then this is your chance! Mattel is finally producing a 100% replica. Of course it does not float but supposedly glides over surfaces with ease. This sale is specific from March 1st to March 20th. It is a pre-sale and the board will ship in November/December of this year. It is $120 and you even get a cool little replica that will work with most of the Mattel action figure lines.  You can click on the banner below for more information.  Don't forget that you have to order it by March 20th!

Superman VS Hulk!

I came across this video and thought I would share it with you all! It's from user "mhabjan". If you click on the video it will take you to his Youtube account and you can see his other videos of this fight and more. He promises even more fighting videos and the quality continues to get better and better with each video. What is even more amazing is that he is doing this on his own. I can't wait to see what he has in store in the future!

1984 MOTU Toy Poster

Hey everyone! I had a great time at the annual Palmer Wirfs antique show at the Portland Expo Center this past weekend. You never know what kind of old stuff you will find at this show. I wasn't sure what to expect but have been pleasantly surprised every time! I found a few Ninja Turtles, an awesome Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure toy set and a very cool 1984 Masters of the Universe poster showcasing all of the action figures from the line that year.

Star Wars: Kinect!

Anyone else excited about this game?! I have an XBOX 360 Kinect and it is technologically one of the most amazing inventions we have seen in a long time.

Site Update 3.4.12

Hello everyone! Your probably wondering where in the heck I have been the past few months. Honestly, life (and work) has taken control and I don't have or haven't made much time for the site. That doesn't mean that I haven't been adding new toys and collectibles to my ever growing MASSIVE collection. I HAVE! A LOT! It is hard to take photos of everything and post individually each time I pick up something new or read something cool and exciting you have probably seen on another website. With all of that said. I will do my best to try and post updates of stuff that is near and dear to my heart. Stay tuned and see what is coming your way......
